The Office of the Provost at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is seeking an experienced higher education professional for the position of Director of the Center for Learning Support Services and e-Learning Programs (CLSSELP).  The Director of CLSSELP reports directly to the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and is responsible for:

• Supervision of Peer Tutoring and Teaching Assistant services
• Coordination of these academic support services with the operations of the Writing Center and the Math & Science Center
• Coordination of the university’s first-year transition course, the study skills course, and other related developmental or early retention programming
• Planning and implementation of Faculty Professional Development, including programming focused on technology-enhanced teaching and learning, in coordination with the Provost and the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs
• Coordination of the university’s e-Learning courses and programs

 As coordinator of the university’s first-year transition course and the study skills course, the Director of the CLSSELP teaches one or more sections of these one-credit courses each semester.  The Director also has the opportunity to reach one three-credit course per semester in his or her academic discipline, as the need arises in the relevant academic program.

Required Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree from an accredited higher education institution
• Administrative experience in a university operating on the American model of higher education
• Experience in supervising Academic Support Services
• Experience in planning and delivering Faculty Professional Development programming
• Experience in leading instructional technology initiatives in a university setting

Additional Desired Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Psychology
• Experience with online and distance learning
• Experience teaching in a university operating on the American model of higher education
• Experience with accreditation by one of the U.S. regional accrediting organizations
