Job Summary: The Department of Biotechnology in the School of Arts and Sciences at the American University of Ras al Khaimah (AURAK) seeks to hire a part-time faculty member for Instructor/Assistant Professor rank starting Spring 2024 (beginning of January). Candidates for this position must hold a MS or Ph.D. in Biotechnology or other related discipline. Prior successful teaching experience at the university level employing high-impact educational practices to promote active learning by students and experience in working effectively with globally diverse student populations are expected.
Primary Responsibilities Include: ● Teaching laboratory courses related to University Biology and Biotechnology. ● Holding office hours; one hour per course per week. ● Completing mandatory quality assurance requirements at the end of each semester for the delivered course such as Course DASPA, Program DASPA, Course Files and Syllabi. ● Participating in Department, School of Arts and Sciences, and University meetings, if possible. Required Qualifications and Skills: ● A master or doctoral degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, or any other related discipline, from an accredited institution of higher education. ● Effective oral and written English communication skills. ● Commitment to excellence in teaching, including the use of high-impact educational practices at the university level ● Experience in working effectively with a diverse student population. ● Ability to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines.
