Network Administrator

The Network Administrator staff will be primarily accountable in server management which mainly involves installing, maintaining and upgrading University servers. This position will also be deeply involved in the research, analysis and selection of campus computing services specifically network and server solutions. The responsibility of the Network Administrator will also include network and IT security administration.

The Civil and Infrastructure Engineering (CIEN) Department invites applications for a full-time laboratory instructor position to join the department in Spring 2017. Candidates must have a Master of science degree in Civil Engineering or in a closely related field. Applicants are expected to show evidence of effective interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The CIEN lab instructor is expected to teach undergraduate laboratory courses, set up and maintain lab facilities, develop and deliver lab experiments, maintain safe environment and guide student lab projects. In addition to these duties, the CIEN lab instructor is expected to provide administrative and support function for the CIEN program, the School of Engineering and AURAK at large. Candidates for this position are expected  to have lab experience – and preferably work experience - in one or more of the following areas: concrete mixing and testing, asphalt design and testing, soil mechanics, fluid mechanics and hydraulics, and surveying.

Spacecraft Research Engineer

We invite applications for a Research Engineer to work in the space unit of the newly established Centre of Information, Communication and Networking Education and Innovation (ICONET) at the American University of Ras Al-Khaimah (AURAK). The space unit at ICONET supports undergraduate students at AURAK in designing, fabricating and integrating space systems where the students will work as multi-disciplinary teams to build CubeSats. The candidate is expected to manage the space unit and work closely with the students to assist the multi-disciplinary team of students in small satellite development program management, systems engineering and systems integration. The engineer will be responsible for coordinating and integrating all small satellite (i.e. Cubesat) project tasks including technical and operational interfaces with industry sponsors.
