ADJUNCT FACULTY OPPORTUNITY
Job Summary: The Mass Communication Program at the American University of Ras al Khaimah is inviting applications to teach on a part-time basis for Fall Semester 2020 for introductory level courses in the program. We welcome candidates whose teaching ensures student success; deep engagement with high impact educational practices that keep students at the center of the learning process is highly valued.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The teaching load for adjunct faculty is 2 courses per semester. The Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications prepares students to understand how information in the 21st century is collected, transmitted and perceived. Graduates of the program develop the skills and knowledge required to take on a position of responsibility in private and public enterprises. Program graduates are expected to be capable of analyzing and presenting information in a highly complex global cultural milieu.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Communication or a related field from an accredited university is required. Prior successful teaching experience would be an asset, as would experience in the industry. Medium of instruction at AURAK is English; hence, excellent oral and written communication skills in English are also required. A record of successful collaboration with faculty from a variety of disciplines is desirable.
Description of AURAK: The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) is a public non-profit, independent, coeducation institution of higher education which delivers an integrated American-style, undergraduate and graduate education with a strong focus on the local indigenous culture. All programs are accredited by the Ministry of Education of the UAE. In addition, AURAK has recently achieved accreditation with the U.S. regional accreditation association, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
