Assistant/Associate Professor in Petroleum Engineering

American University of Ras Al Khaimah


The Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department of the School of Engineering at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in Petroleum Engineering program to begin January 2020. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering with specialization in reservoir simulation, reservoir characteristics, stimulation and production. The applicant must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching, research and service. The successful candidate will be expected to be active in research in his/her fields of interests, incorporate high-impact educational practices in his/her teaching, advise undergraduate students, and provide service to the department, university, and community.


The successful candidate is expected to teach the following courses: Petroleum Reservoir Engineering, Reservoir Simulation, Stimulation and Intervention in Petroleum Production Operations, Applied Reservoir Geology, and Water Flooding. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of teaching introductory level courses and supervise senior design projects.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Teaching petroleum engineering courses 

Participating in departmental, school, and university committees and activities

Advising and mentoring students 

Participating in outreach activities, such as continuing education workshops, conferences and seminars

Pursuing research activities within the department 

 

Required Qualifications:

Candidate must hold a Ph. D. in Petroleum Engineering from an accredited institution of higher education 

University teaching experience

Effective written and oral communication skills 

Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship, including the use of high-impact educational practices

Interest and experience in working effectively with a diverse student population 

Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines
